Dana Griffin is an Associate Professor at UNC-Chapel Hill, where she teaches in the school counseling program. Dr. Griffin holds degrees from The College of William and Mary and Hampton University. Her professional background includes professional school counseling, marriage and family counseling and community counseling. These experiences led Dr. Griffin to pursue her research agenda: school-family-community collaboration and culturally competent parental involvement with African American and Latino families. She has presented her research at state and national conferences and has published in counseling journals such as Professional School Counseling, The Journal of Counseling & Development and The Journal for Social Action in Counseling and Psychology. Dr. Griffin also highly values teaching future school counselors about the need for advocacy, empowerment and social justice, especially when working with families from marginalized communities.
