Shreya Vaishnav, MC, NCC, LPCA, is a second year doctoral student at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She received her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Arizona State University in May 2017 and is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA). Shreya is also a 2018-19 NBCC Foundation Doctoral Minority Fellow. Her clinical research interests focus on reducing mental health disparities for marginalized groups. She is particularly interested in working with immigrants and refugees. At present, Shreya is a Graduate Assistant at Wake Forest Baptist Health providing screening and brief intervention to patients who live with addiction or risky substance use in the trauma, burns, and internal medicine units. Her research interest focuses on the impact of racial microaggressions experienced by graduate students in academia, social justice advocacy, and integrating multicultural competencies in counselor education programs.
